Construction on portions of the Champlain Hudson Power Express project in Rockland County has started! To reduce traffic impacts, the CHPE project’s initial work focuses on project elements located outside of the Route 9W roadway or right-of-way. As construction progresses, the number of off-roadway work sites will increase. The CHPE land team has negotiated easements with all private parcel owners where work is currently occurring. In addition to the work on private parcels, new traffic cameras are being installed at signalized intersections along Route 9W, in accordance with New York State Department of Transportation requirements and to improve public safety and traffic movement. There is only one current area of CHPE construction in the roadway, occurring on the east side of Route 9W in Haverstraw.
