Clarkstown Holds Public Workshops for the Nanuet Transit Oriented Development Project
(New City, NY) – The Town of Clarkstown is seeking public input on the Nanuet Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Plan at two upcoming workshops. The workshops are scheduled for Saturday, April 1st at 10am and Monday, April 3rd at 7pm at the Nanuet High School Auditorium, 103 Church Street, Nanuet. Residents and businesses can choose which date is more convenient for them.
The Town is looking for residents and businesses to provide input as they develop a plan for the area around the Nanuet train station. Attendees will learn more about the project and be able to give their ideas. The project is funded by the NYSERDA Cleaner Greener Communities Program.
The hamlet of Nanuet is uniquely poised for redevelopment. It is strategically located near the junction of the New York State Thruway, New York State Route 59, and the Metro North rail line operated by New Jersey Transit. Nanuet is a prime locale for housing, commuting, shopping and leisure. The plan may include: a new multimodal transit station on the existing line; mixed-use retail and office; residential units; pedestrian paths; pedestrian-friendly storefront streets; and parks.
