Hoehmann, Town Board Appoint Tom Morr as the Next Town Comptroller
(New City) – Supervisor George Hoehmann and the Town Board today appointed Tom Morr as Clarkstown’s next Comptroller. Mr. Morr, who officially begins on February 1, will be taking over for Clarkstown’s long time Comptroller Ed Duer, who retired earlier this year.
Tom Morr, a Nanuet resident and former Orangetown Town Councilman, has extensive public accounting and budget experience. A CPA, Mr. Morr served as Deputy Commissioner of Hospitals, and Legislative Budget Officer for the County of Rockland.
“Tom understands the fiscal challenges facing Clarkstown and I am proud he is returning to the public sector,” said Supervisor George Hoehmann. “Tom knows government operations and budgets and will be able to help my administration cut costs and tighten our fiscal belt.”
In addition to his public sector experience, Mr. Morr has had success in the private sector, serving as Controller for several multi-million dollar companies, including Fujitec America, Inc., Pritchard Industries, Inc., and Duro-Test Corporation. His career accomplishments include improving account analysis and the reliability of interim financial statements, organizing tax and other government filing processes, and he was instrumental in evaluation and implementing a variety of financial system conversions and upgrades.
“I am humbled and honored by the trust placed in me by Supervisor Hoehmann and the Town Board,” said Comptroller Morr. “I am ready for the challenge ahead and look forward to using my public and private sector experience to help the Supervisor and Town Board get Clarkstown’s budget under control and provide relief to the taxpayers of this great Town.”
