Clarkstown Plans Opening Night of 225th Anniversary Historical Exhibit
October is Clarkstown History Month
(New City, NY) – Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann and the Town Board plans to open the Town’s 225th anniversary historical exhibit at Town Hall. In honor of the Town’s 225thanniversary, Supervisor Hoehmann created a committee of local historians, residents, and Town staff to coordinate the exhibit.
What: Town of Clarkstown 225th Anniversary Historical Exhibit Opening Night
When: Wednesday, October 5, 2016, 7 pm
Where: Clarkstown Town Hall, 10 Maple Ave., New City
The exhibit represents 10 themes which encompass Clarkstown’s rich history consisting of photographs, artifacts, and documents that have been generously donated or loaned to the Town. Also on display, will be artwork and essays from Clarkstown students. Students were asked to submit artwork either using the plein-air style of drawing, a historic site in Clarkstown, or what the Witch of West Nyack might have looked like. The essays will describe “A Day in the Life of a Child in 1791 in Clarkstown”. The art and essay contest winners will be awarded at the opening ceremony.
The exhibit will remain open Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm until December 2016. All are welcome to come view the exhibit.
For Clarkstown history month, the Town is also sponsoring a lecture series throughout the month of October. Information on the lecture series can be found on the website www.clarkstownhistory.org.
