Fall in Clarkstown

The summer season of 2024 officially ended on Sunday, September 22nd. The recent weather has been so nice that the onset of Autumn hasn’t really hit home yet, but rest assured that the invasion of all things pumpkin-spiced is upon us. As much as I enjoy summer, one of the great aspects of living here in the northeast is getting the full experience that each of the four seasons has to offer. And, for me and many others, the fall season is one I really look forward to each year. It’s a great time to get outdoors when it’s not too hot or too cold, to enjoy the vivid colors of changing leaves, and spend quality time with friends and family.

Clarkstown, located in the heart of Rockland County, sits in close proximity to a number of fantastic hiking trails. The New York-New Jersey Trail Conference website is a great reference for those looking to go on an adventure.  If you’re looking to keep it laid back and local, you can always enjoy the Congers Lake Walkway or the Bear Swamp Nature Trail and Preserve (access on Mountainview Ave.). After working up an appetite, you may be tempted to grab some cider or pick some apples for a homemade apple pie at Dr. Davies’ Farm in Congers.

Fall also means football, so if you’re looking to support our local youth, I suggest attending a game at Clarkstown North, Clarkstown South, Nanuet, Nyack, and Albertus Magnus High Schools.

As always, Clarkstown offers a host of programs and events during the fall. Listed below are just a few of the upcoming events that provide an opportunity to get outside and enjoy some family fun. If you haven’t signed up for our weekly E-newsletter, make sure to do so at www.clarkstown.gov and keep an eye on the Town’s Facebook page to make sure you’re in the know for the other great events that are coming.
